The goal here was to create a five second countdown animation using after effects. We had quite a bit of creative freedom on this one as we could use anything from shapes to typography to drawings as long as we followed the initial guidelines.

I decided to go for an illustrative approach which involved a lot of frame by frame animating. My idea was to recreate the aesthetic of old cartoons like Mickey mouse and other similar animations from that time. I managed to replicate that look by making the hand into a bold white glove, adding a grainy texture with desaturated colors and pulling it all together with some early 1900s instrumental music in the background.

A short but smooth animation that involves a bit of humour as well as references to the old animation styles of the early 1900s. The secondary animations and grain give it a very polished look.
